Mental health charity in peril

THE mental health charity Woking Mind could close within a year after its funding was cut by more than half.

General manager Elle Wilks said: “We get the bulk of our funding from a local authority grant. It used to be £50,000 a year, which essentially fully funded our services, topped up with a bit of corporate and individual support. But last year, we were told that was going to be cut. An exact figure wasn’t offered, leaving us in limbo, and protracted negotiations continue to understand exactly what we will receive.
