Water is key to playing Shrek on stage

HOW do you prepare to take on iconic role like Shrek? Well, for Steffan Harri the most important thing is … drinking plenty of water.

He has to keep hydrated to make it through every stage performance of Shrek The Musical because his massive green costume weighs nearly four stone and covers his head completely.

“I usually wake up in the morning and start drinking water straight away,” says the Guildford School of Acting graduate. “During the show itself I drink eight litres of water, hydrating before and during every performance.

Shrek The Musical is currently at the New Victoria Theatre, Woking and runs until Sunday 10 June.
