“I’m absolutely delighted to be doing panto in Guildford,” says Dillie. “It’s been home from home for Fascinating Aida over the years, and it’s one of my absolute favourite theatres in the country.”

She will be playing opposite Kit Hesketh-Harvey, who is returning to play Dastardly Dick, but she says: “I shan’t be putting up with any malarkey – as Good Fairy, I promise to vanquish evil and send villains packing with special magic and sheer force of character.

“That Kit Hesketh-Harvey chap has got a big fight on his hands if he thinks he can bring that wicked Giant to lovely Guildford!  Watch out, you rotters, the Good Fairy is on her way!”

Dillie and Kit will be joined by Eagle Radio’s Peter Gordon as Dame Dolly Trott, Jamie Brook as the lovable fool, Jack’s brother Silly-Billy, Steffan Lloyd-Evans as Jack, and the Guildford Performance Preparation Academy student Louise Cannon, who will play Princess Jill.

The Yvonne Arnaud has also announced details of this autumn’s season, and highlights include Susie Blake starring as the Queen in Moira Buffini’s Olivier Award winning comedy Handbagged (September 21 to 26); the grisly serial killings in Sherlock Holmes and the Ripper Murders (September 28 to October 3); Alex Parker returning with a new production of Sunset Boulevard (October 7 to 10); and Brian Blessed: Absolute Pandemonium (October 11).
