Fireworks Extravaganza is back with a bang

WOKING’S night sky was bathed in streams of crackling light on Saturday as the annual fireworks display boomed back into town.

Fizzing fuses, a plethora of fairground games for kids, and souvenirs aplenty ensured quite the evening for the thousands who flocked to Woking Park at the weekend.

After 20 years of organising the explosive extravaganza, Woking Roundtable passed the event on to the borough’s District Rotary and, with some special guests, they helped provide the ammunition for a starry-eyed evening.

Fresh from being crowned Britain’s champion firework firm, local outfit Fantastic Fireworks were charged with drawing ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ from an expectant public.

Set to music, the display lasted for 25 minutes and proceeds will be distributed to good causes.

Woking District President Rob Ready said: “The Fireworks Extravaganza is one of the best in Surrey and [after two decades] Woking Roundtable should be proud of the enjoyment they have given to those attending and those who have benefitted from funds raised.”
