Return of the roundabout lemons

THE mysterious lemons on the roundabout have returned.

Last year, Ann Tilbury reported in her column on the mystery of the citrus fruit being deposited on the Lockfield Drive roundabout on the junction with Amstel Way and Denton Way on the edge of Goldsworth Park.

The lemons, sometimes three or four at a time, have been thrown or placed on the grass of the roundabout at various times.

No one seems to know why this is happening. Theories have included an overloaded van dropping its cargo, but then there would have been more lemons scattered on the road. Others have suggested that the lemons are a secret signal, perhaps to do with an illicit meeting.
