Acclaimed folk duo

WITH a personal invite from Billy Bragg to play Glastonbury, a nomination for Best Duo at the BBC Folk Awards and sessions on 6 Music and Radio 2, the voice and piano partnership of Belinda O’Hooley and Heidi Tidow is gaining plenty of acclaim.

The pair’s songwriting ranges from an emotionally charged song about an elephant orphanage in Nairobi to a joyous celebration of the Leeds cycling champion Beryl Burton.

Their harmonies have led to comparisons from early Simon and Garfunkel to Kate and Anna McGarrigle. There’s a chance to find out for yourself when O’Hooley and Tidow play at Grayshott Folk Club, near Hindhead, on Friday 8 June.
