Fitting tribute to the Big O

Barry Steele & Friends – The Roy Orbison Story 30 Year Special returns to the New Victoria Theatre, Woking on Friday 13 April.

For nearly 15 years Barry Steele’s tribute has played to across the world. Now, 30 years after the passing of Roy Orbison, Steele is back in Woking. With songs like You Got It, Only the Lonely, In Dreams, Crying, and Oh, Pretty Woman Barry will perform hits from Orbison’s early years with Sun Recordings right through to the late 1980s, when he worked with musicians like Bono, Bruce Springsteen, and George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne as part of super group the Traveling Wilburys.

Backed by a band and a live multi-media show with images from Orbison’s life, the production not only features original material but songs that he wrote for other artists including Jerry Lee Lewis and ELO, which he never performed himself. Barry breaks up the music with facts about the life of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist.
