Woking extended their unbeaten run to four games in all competitions with a 0-0 draw at home to Kidderminster Harriers in the National League.

Neither side were able to break the deadlock in a competitive encounter played in front of a crowd of 2,489 at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.

The Cards nearly took the lead in the 12th minute when Timmy Akinola won the ball in midfield and started an attack which ended with Akinola’s cross finding Matt Ward, who fired his left-footed effort from the edge of the box over the bar.

Kiddy went close a minute later when Ben Crompton’s cross found Levi Amantchi, whose header was parried behind for a corner by Cards keeper Will Jaaskelainen at his near post.

The visitors won a free-kick in a dangerous position just outside the box on 31 minutes, and the resulting effort from former Card Cian Harries was deflected behind for a corner.

Woking then went close in the 33rd minute when Jake Forster-Caskey’s corner found Chinwike Okoli at the back post, but Okoli couldn’t get his header on target.

The Cards had the best of the game so far two minutes later when John Marquis found himself through on goal, but Kiddy keeper Jack Wint did superbly to block Marquis’ effort. The rebound eventually fell to Aiden O'Brien, whose effort went over the bar.

Kiddy went close in the 43rd minute when Harries’ neat pass found Callum Stewart, who dragged his right-footed effort from just outside the box wide of the left-hand post.

Woking went straight down the other end of the pitch and had an excellent chance when Matt Ward ran through on goal and tried to chip Wint, who was off his line, but Ward’s effort was well held by the Kiddy keeper.

The Cards nearly broke the deadlock on the hour mark when Forster-Caskey’s corner found Okoli at the back post, but Okoli’s header was off target.

Cards boss Craig Ross made a double change in the 71st minute, with Steven Turner and Liam Dulson replacing Forster-Caskey and O’Brien.

Ross made his third substitution of the afternoon on 84 minutes, with Josh Kelly replacing Ward as the Cards looked for an opener.

Woking had a golden chance to take the lead a minute later when a free-kick was nodded on by Marquis and the ball dropped back to him in the box, but Marquis fired his right-footed half-volley over the bar.

The Cards continued to push for a winner and Putman let fly from 35 yards out in stoppage time, but his effort went over the bar.

Syla also tried his luck from range in stoppage time, but he fired his effort over the bar as honours ultimately finished even at the end of a competitive encounter.

Next up for the Cards is a trip to Carlisle United in the National League on Saturday, September 26 (3pm kick-off).
