Woking joint-interim manager Craig Ross praised his side's second-half performance after they came from behind to draw 1-1 at Boston United.

Terrell Agyemang gave the hosts the lead in the sixth minute, but Josh Kelly’s 73rd-minute equaliser earned the Cards a share of the spoils at the Jakemans Community Stadium.

“Boston have started fast in all their games – they had taken the lead in six out of their nine games so far,” said Ross.

“We knew they would start fast, press aggressively and put us under pressure – especially in the first 15 to 20 minutes.

“We had to match that and better that, and for the most part we did.

“Boston didn't look like scoring, apart from a set piece – which the goal came from. It was obviously disappointing to concede.

“We were fully aware of what to expect, and Boston didn't disappoint on that.

“In the last five to ten minutes of the first half, we looked ourselves. We played with tempo, energy and urgency.

“We stepped it up a gear and played how we want to play, should play and have been playing for a lot of games.

“The reaction was there – the intent was there to go and attack the game.

“The message at half-time was that we have to carry on the last five to ten minutes of the first half into the second half – and we did that.

“When we're at our best, we go forward with pace and numbers and go and attack teams.

“The message at half-time was to not turn the opportunities down – and the lads carried that out.

“We had to change shape to put two forwards on the pitch, which worked for the goal. Jaiden Putman put in a great delivery and Josh was in the position we want our forwards to be in.

“It was a great ball from Jaiden. Josh has arrived in the right position – it's a great finish from him. I'm glad he's back on the pitch and scoring goals – that's what you want from your substitutes.

“We make changes to make an impact on games. That was the message to the substitutes coming on – and they did exactly that.

“The lads are a little bit disappointed with a draw, which I'm happy about, but you can't disrespect taking a point away in this league.

“Boston is not an easy place to come on a Tuesday night. They've not been in the greatest form, but they're a good National League team. They're solid and well-drilled, so to come and take a point is positive.

“We're unbeaten in three games – we have to keep building on this momentum.”

The draw at Boston was Woking’s first point on the road this season, although Ross believes his side have deserved more for their efforts on their travels.

“We should have taken more points away from home this season already, so it’s pleasing to get a point,” said Ross.

“Boston will reflect on their chances. They put a few dangerous balls into the box that either we dealt with or they headed over, but their goalie has made two really good saves.

“We had some chances we could have taken, but a draw is probably about right.

“It's our first point away from home. I feel we should have had more already, but we've broken the back of it and we have to build on that for our next away game.

“We have to be at our levels every week, because that's what this league requires. If we dip below that, we'll struggle to get anything.

“If we play like we have been at home recently teams will find it very difficult to live with us.

“The lads know we have to be on it and have to be play with intensity and aggression. When we do that, we look very good.”
