Woking joint-interim manager Jake Hyde believes the Cards are seeing their hard work pay off after thrashing Altrincham 5-1 in the National League.

Hyde and Craig Ross were placed in interim charge of the Cards late in pre-season after the departure of previous boss Jermain Defoe, and Hyde believes his side are now getting the rewards of their work on the training ground.

“We’ve been getting stronger and stronger each week,” said Hyde.

“We can talk about statistics and running stats all day long, but it’s evident for everyone to see.

“We’re getting stronger, we’re getting fitter and we’re getting faster.

“I know we weren’t in a fantastic place before the season started. We’ve addressed that, and now you can see the process is working.

“You can see us starting to run over teams and we’ll get stronger as the season goes on.

“We’re getting boys back from injuries and we’re strengthening all the time.

“The performances are lifting and the togetherness is lifting. We’re in a really good place.

“We don’t feel like we’ve cracked it – football has lots of ups and downs.

“As long as we’re making a step in the right direction each day and those five and ten per cent differences all the time then we’ll be on a nice trajectory.

“I think we will grow throughout the season and we will be a real force to be reckoned with.”

Hyde was delighted with his side’s performance as they ran out emphatic winners against Altrincham.

“Altrincham were a team in form – they had won their past three and probably had the upper hand for the first ten minutes,” said Hyde.

“We made a couple of changes tactically and then from that moment on the boys were brilliant.

“I felt we were dominant from that moment on.”
