Ladies’ survival hopes are given a huge boost

HOCKEY: WOKING Ladies’ 1s coach Mark Robinson proved that you don’t have to play pretty, free-flowing hockey to grind out a result.

Having not won a league match since January and slowly seen their points differential erode away to teams below them, Woking travelled to relegation-threatened Havant in what was billed as a crucial “six-pointer”.

In near Arctic conditions, the home side started the brighter of the two, with Liz Allen coming close to opening the scoring, only to see her deflected shot go narrowly wide of Helena Hubbard’s far post.
