Local business applying modern approach to perennial chat

WITH the player transfer window now open for what could prove another frantic summer of signings and sales, the experts at new West Byfleet firm Football Whispers believe they are one step ahead of the game.

Last week, Founder and Chairman of Football Whispers, Dr Mo Sacoor, kicked-off the online transfer predictor platform at a high-profile launch, held at Milton Keynes Dons FC’s Stadium:MK.

He said at the event: “We are really excited and proud to provide football fans around the globe with the world’s first transfer predictor.” The multi-business entrepreneur added that the resource will ‘enhance football fan’s online experience’ and become ‘a regular source of transfer rumours and football news, in one place’.

At Milton Keynes – where the company also operate from – staff were joined by former Premier League trio turned pundits Peter Beagrie, Paul Walsh, Steve Claridge for a special kickabout.

During their playing days, that hat-trick of ex-pros fetched a few pounds for their clubs, including Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City – and were keen to get the inside track on where modern day stars will be playing next season.

The complex algorithm used to predict if Mario Götze or Zlatan Ibrahimovic will join English football in the coming weeks were, perhaps, a little lost on the VIPs but the ‘likelihood index score’ (on a scale of one to five) will simplify matters for users.

The technology behind the numbers has been developed in collaboration with The University of Sheffield’s Department of Computer Science. Professor Fabio Ciravegna, from the faculty, confessed that attempting to predict player moves is ‘no easy feat’ but backed the countless research hours to win over fans.

Global giants Sky Sports plan to utilise the index tech in their transfer content, while another partner, football specialists FourFourTwo.com, will carry content in their new rumours section.

The new start-up does not yet carry Woking transfer gossip but officials have told Cards fans to watch this space.
