It is all change for Woking Photographic Society’s annual exhibition currently underway at the town centre library (Len Walker writes).
A complete refresh will see around 80 brand-new printed images in this free-to-visit month-long celebration of colour and creativity, which is open during normal library hours.
The prints will be in panels - a print panel is a thematic collection of between four and six individual photographs displayed as a sequential and cohesive artwork that tells a story or explores a concept.
The changeover will take place today (Thursday, 27 August) and the prints are on display until the exhibition closes on Saturday, 5 September.
There is also the last of the popular (and free) talks given by members of WPS. The first three talks were very well attended, received glowing feedback, and everyone enjoyed the air conditioning!
On 1 September at 6.30pm Robert Hewitt will describe “My photographic journey through landscape and wild places”, in which he shares a personal journey through Britain's most inspiring landscapes, and explores what makes a successful landscape image – emphasising the importance of light, composition and mood.
Jane Hibbert, exhibition secretary, said: “For those who have already enjoyed the exhibition, why not come again? There’s still plenty of time to pop in and pick your winning picture – more than 300 visitors cast their votes for their favourite images in the first week alone!
“As always, WPS members will be on hand to answer questions and encourage visitors to vote for their favourite image.”
Woking Photographic Society meets weekly from 8 September with a season packed with guest speakers, tutorials, practical evenings, competitions, and a variety of sessions where members can share, discuss, and enjoy photography in a friendly atmosphere.
