Weystone Manor care home in Woking has helped resident Jean celebrate her 101st birthday with a superb celebration honouring a remarkable and active member of their community.

The home was filled with joy and laughter as everyone gathered to mark the milestone. Attended by Jean's children and grandchildren, as well as fellow residents and staff, the party brought together her closest family and friends to toast her incredible life.

After everyone heartily sang Happy Birthday, guests enjoyed a delicious cake prepared by the head chef while sharing fond stories from Jean’s life.

Jean, who previously lived in Wonersh, is well known at the home for her happy, thoughtful and selfless nature.

She knits beautiful blankets for premature babies at the nearby Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford, ensuring the area's youngest patients are kept warm.

Jean is also a passionate individual who never misses an activity at the home and loves the outings in the minibus to nearby places such as the Woking Library, Newlands Corner, the garden centres and Horsell Common.

In particular, Jean loves gardening, which she regularly enjoys as part of a group or on a one-to-one basis with a carer.

General manager Abdul Rifai said: “We have had a wonderful time celebrating Jean’s special day. She is a true inspiration to everyone here, always eager to get stuck into group activities or enjoy dedicated one-to-one gardening sessions tailored completely to her passions.”
