St Columba’s House was delighted to welcome the Mayor of Woking, Cllr Rob Leach, to its open day on Saturday, 1 August.
Members of the local community enjoyed exploring the house and its gardens, while discovering more about St Columba’s House as a Christian retreat and conference centre.
The mayor’s visit reflected the important role St Columba’s House continues to play as a place of welcome, hospitality and reflection in the heart of Woking.
Visitors enjoyed guided tours of the house, explored the gardens and labyrinth and relaxed with complimentary refreshments.
They also learned more about the peaceful spaces available for retreats and meetings, as well as the events held throughout the year.
Saint Columba’s House has a busy calendar of events including quiet days, art workshops, poetry and music sessions.
It offers excellent meeting rooms, en-suite accommodation, home cooked food and worship space for a retreat, business meeting, seminar or conference.
The open day also gave visitors the chance to enjoy Behold Summer, St Columba’s House’s in-house art exhibition running from June to August. The exhibition showcases work by Bethany Hastings, Catherine Jones and Ros Mansfield.
Cllr Leach said: “I had never visited before and wondered what it was all about. I was impressed by the clean, attractive and tidy rooms and spaces, together with the atmosphere of peace and tranquility, enhanced by the art and the garden.”
A spokesperson said: “St Columba’s House would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the open day such an enjoyable occasion.
“It was a pleasure to open our doors to so many people and we look forward to welcoming visitors back in the future.”
