A £10,000 donation from a local business will help fund hundreds of hours of specialist end-of-life care for patients across Surrey.

Fernox has donated the money to Woking & Sam Beare Hospice through its ESI Foundation, supporting the charity’s work with people living with advanced life-limiting illnesses across six Surrey boroughs.

The donation will fund around 380 hours of in-patient care, helping provide specialist medical and emotional support to patients and their families at some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

The hospice was chosen because of the personal connections many Fernox employees have with its work and its importance within the local community.

Dave Holley, Chemical Technical Manager, and Melissa Cook, Sales Support and Marketing Executive, attended a cheque presentation at the hospice, meeting staff and hearing more about how the money will be used.

Fernox employees have also been raising money themselves, with a recent staff raffle bringing in a further £700 for the hospice.

Charel Marais, General Manager at Fernox, said: “We are thrilled to support the Woking & Sam Beare Hospice with this donation. It’s impossible to put into words what an important role the hospice and its team play for individuals and their families.

“The Fernox team will also be volunteering at the hospice later in the year as part of our commitment to support them in any way we can.”

Lucy McNally, Income Generation Manager at Woking & Sam Beare Hospice, said the donation would make a direct difference to patients and their loved ones.

“We're so grateful for the incredible generosity of Fernox,” she said. “This donation will enable patients and their loved ones to receive end-of-life care as well as support through the challenges of illness, loss, and bereavement.”
