Chobham Rugby Club is using England’s success in the Women’s Rugby World Cup to attract more women and girls to the sport.
England beat Canada 33-13 at Twickenham on September 27 to lift the trophy and deliver what the club called “a powerful statement about female strength, unity and possibility”.
Lauren, captain of Chobham Women, said: “The Red Roses reminded us that rugby is about courage, connection and community.
“We want women who feel that spark - whether they’ve played before or are just curious - to come and be part of something empowering."
Harriet Walker, head coach of Chobham Women, said: "I have played for the club for many years and now have the privilege of coaching.
"I hope the Red Roses winning the Rugby World Cup will spark engagement and participation throughout the women’s and girls’ sections at the club.
“Chobham Women are a team of all rugby abilities and strive to be the best team we can be. If you are interested in joining our team there is a place for you - get in touch."
As well as the women’s team, Chobham Rugby Club offer age group rugby for girls from under-ten to under-18 level. The mini and junior sections welcome girls and boys from the age of four.
The men’s team is described as “competitive and community focused”, while there is also low-impact walking rugby for all ages and abilities, fast-paced, inclusive and social touch rugby, and mixed ability rugby for everyone.
Chobham Rugby Club is based at Fowlers Wells in Windsor Road, Chobham. Women’s training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.30pm to 9pm. Girls’ training is on Fridays from 6.30pm to 8pm, and on Sundays from 9.30am to 11am, and 11am to 1.30pm.
