Woking have signed forward John Marquis on a one-year contract.

The 34-year-old joins the Cards following the expiry of his contract at Shrewsbury Town, where he scored 18 goals in 86 games.

Marquis has made more than 500 appearances in the English Football League and scored 171 goals, enjoying permanent spells with Millwall, Portsmouth, Doncaster Rovers, Lincoln City, Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury Town, as well as a number of loan moves early in his career.

His most prolific spell was at Doncaster, where he scored 61 goals between 2016 and 2019.

Marquis spent the summer featuring for the Professional Footballers’ Association XI, scoring four times during the pre-season camp, including goals against Hednesford Town, QPR under-21s and two against Barnet.

He now arrives at the Laithwaite Community Stadium on a one-year deal covering the 2026-27 season.
