Woking joint-manager Jake Hyde was disappointed after his side fell to a 4-2 defeat at home to Solihull Moors in the National League.
The Cards went into the game off the back of an impressive 5-2 win at Carlisle United, but were brought back down to earth by Solihull.
“When you've been in football long enough you understand that you can never get too high and you can never get too low,” said Hyde.
“It's about trying to keep a balance. It's tough at times, and it's a hard game to analyse directly afterwards when emotions are high.”
The Cards fell behind early on, but appeared to be well placed to push on when they went 2-1 up after 25 minutes through goals from Matt Ward and John Marquis.
“Once we settled into the game, we had a little bit more possession and put Solihull under some pressure,” said Hyde.
“At 2-1 up after 25 minutes, I don't think we ever saw ourselves finishing the game 4-2 down.
“You can't account for individual errors, but they happen. It's about how we react from that.
“Emotions are high, but it’s obviously a disappointing result for us.
“It felt like a game where whoever made the least mistakes was going to win the game.
“When we went 2-1 up, I was fairly confident – as I'm sure all the boys were – that it would fall in our favour. It hasn't happened and we have to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and get back to work.”
Woking trailed 3-2 at half-time, but started the second half brightly until Jaiden Putman was sent off in the 56th minute.
“We got the reaction we wanted from the boys after half-time,” said Hyde.
“I felt we dictated the second half until the sending off. Unfortunately, big decisions like that change games.
“Jaiden has been brilliant for us in the past few games, but maybe it's a learning curve for him.
“When you're on top in a game but a goal behind, as soon as you get a man sent off the opposition are going to get a boost.”
