Westfield drew 1-1 at home to Step 5 side Hassocks in the preliminary round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Field dominated the early proceedings and it paid dividends as Manolis Gogonas won the ball inside his own half and drove into the Hassocks penalty area, before cooly slotting into the bottom corner to open the scoring in the eighth minute.

Despite this good start, the Field couldn’t capitalise and the visitors got back on level terms on 20 minutes. Gogonas tried to play a pass back to George Hedley, but it was intercepted by Jack Troak, who drove into the area and pulled the ball across the box to Devon Fender, who fired in a powerful effort to level the game.

Neither side were able to find a winner, with a replay in Sussex needed to settle the winner of this tie.
