Steep violinist Alexandra Peel will be performing Mozart’s Symphony No.35 (The Haffner) in D Major at St Peter’s Church in Petersfield on Sunday at 3.30pm.
She will be the soloist in the Solent Symphony Orchestra’s free hour-long concert called A Summer Serenade, which will also feature Scherzo in D Minor by Rachmaninoff and Violin Concerto No.1 in G Minor by Bruch.
The bar will be open from 3pm, there is no reserved seating and no ticket is required. A ‘pay what you feel’ collection for the musicians’ expenses will be taken after the show.
Orchestra chairman Helen Walton said: “Alexandra played this concerto with the Solent Symphony Orchestra in March at Portsmouth Cathedral, as the winner of the Portsmouth Music Festival Concerto Award 2022. Her performance was described as ‘stunning’ and the orchestra are delighted to invite her to repeat it in her home town.
“The concert is free as the SSO firmly believes that performances such as this should be available for everyone, especially young musicians who may well be inspired by Alexandra’s fantastic playing. She is an enormous talent.”
