SOME familiar faces make up the St John’s ward after Conservative pair Hilary Addison and Graham Cundy, and Lib Dem Ken Howard, cemented stays in the Council Chamber.

“It’s been an eventful day for all parties,” said Cllr Cundy after the Tories increased their majority by another seat.

“We hope to maintain control of the council and I personally look forward to tackling the challenges ahead of us.”

Cllr Addison, who opted to run in St John’s after her Goldsworth East ward was cut into three (and dispersed into the new Goldsworth, Canalside and St John’s), revealed that the work won’t stop - not even for the weekend.

She told the News & Mail: “My husband and I are marshalling for Woking Bikeathon on Sunday - there’s no rest for the wicked!

“I’m looking forward to working with Graham Cundy - a personal friend of 30 years - to continue to fight for residents. Along with Paul Smith (who finished fifth with 938 votes) we make a great team and it is as a team that me and Graham have got in."

Cllr Howard was absent from the count and unavailable for comment.
