Horsell C of E Junior School marked Easter Jubilations at St Mary’s Church.
The Year 4 service was an uplifting celebration of the Easter story, bringing together pupils, staff, and families in a meaningful reflection on hope and renewal.
The children retold the story of Easter with confidence, focusing particularly on the joy of the resurrection and the powerful message of hope it brings.
Kriya, a Year 4 pupil, said: “It was really fun praying and singing together.”
A particular highlight of the service was the singing. The children performed with enthusiasm and energy, filling the church with sound and spirit.
Their clear voices and evident enjoyment created an atmosphere that was both moving and memorable.
“I am very proud of how the children worked together and the joyful singing,” Mrs Cumberbeach, Palm class teacher, said.
Miss Cusdin, Pine class teacher, added: “The children have shown our school values of service and hope throughout the preparation and the performance.”
At the end, parents were each given sunflower seeds to plant at home. This thoughtful symbol served as a reminder that hope can grow, even in difficult times - a message that echoed the themes explored throughout the service.
Mrs Thompson, a parent, commented: “Year 4 gave us such a wonderful Easter performance at the church. Every child read their lines beautifully, and it was lovely to see how much joy they found in performing.”
Mrs Whitby, another parent, added: “It was a lovely to watch Year 4 presenting their Easter service. Their enthusiasm was infectious.”
Overall, the Year 4 Easter service was a resounding success. It not only showcased the children’s talents and hard work but also provided a moment of reflection and encouragement for all who attended.
Mrs Parker, Head of Year 3 and Year 4, added; “In a busy school term, it stood out as a celebration of community, faith, and the enduring promise of new beginnings.”
