A BISLEY couple have been convicted of stealing Poppy Appeal collection boxes.

Despite pleading not guilty, Karin Latham, 59, was convicted at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Monday of two counts of theft.

It is believed she aided her husband, James, 44, by distracting staff at Sainsbury’s on Guildford Road, Bisley, on November 3; and again at the Co-op on Bagshot Road, Chobham, on November 5.

Mr Latham had already pleaded guilty to another theft of a collection box on November 5 at a Morrisons in Frimley.

He was sentenced to a six-week jail term, suspended for 12 months, and handed a curfew order.

Mrs Latham was due to be sentenced at the tsame time as this issue of the Woking News & Mail went to press.
