A PAIR of busy working mums from Knaphill just can’t seem to stop walking – yes walking – and now they are facing their biggest challenge yet.

Carolyn Kitcat and her good friend Lucy Green keep going that extra mile – literally – for a cause close to their hearts.

Carolyn, who lives in Northwood Avenue and is a chef-manager at Tormead School, said: “Having watched family and friends suffer from cancer, we felt we wanted to support those charities to give something back.

And we have been walking for the last four years now.

“We started with the MoonWalk – or Walk the Walk, the breast cancer charity based in Woking – and then went on to do the Shine challenge for Cancer Research UK.”

Carolyn, 42, has the backing of her 16-year-old daughter Rachel and her husband Simon, while Lucy, 43, who works with her husband Jim in the local family business, has his backing as well as that of her 13-year-old, daughter Jasmine. They live in Lane End Drive.

Carolyn said: “It’s lovely to know that family and friends have also got involved now, helping out by marshalling at the events. This year, we have decided to take on the London2Brighton 100k Walk the Walk, for breast cancer, which will take us at least 24 hours.”

Starting in Richmond, the walk, which will be over the weekend of May 24 and 25, takes participants over the South Downs, and finishes at Brighton Racecourse.

Carolyn added: “Unlike our previous walks, the London2Brighton is over mixed terrain and will take endless hours of training. This is by far our biggest challenge yet.

“We would like to thank all our family and friends for their support on this challenge, and really would appreciate any donation for such a worthwhile cause.”
