thoughts are moving towards planning a holiday. But at the New Victoria Theatre the focus is already on Christmas and this year’s Woking pantomime.

The festive season treat for 2023 is Peter Pan, starring the dance star known as the King of Ballroom.

Anton Du Beke, best known for his role as a professional dancer and then a judge on BBC TV’s Strictly Come Dancing, plays Smee, the bumbling first mate of Captain Hook’s pirate ship.

He will be performing alongside all the usual Peter Pan favourites, including Tinker Bell, Wendy, John and Michael Darling and Nana the dog.

Quick witted and known for his sartorial style, Anton has become a household name through regular television appearances as a host and guest on primetime television.

He has become one of the most-recognisable figures in the world of ballroom dancing, having joined Strictly from when it started in 2004 and becoming a judge in 2021.

Anton first acted in pantomime since 2021 and says he is delighted to be in the Woking production this year.

“I’ve had so much fun in Pantoland the last couple of years that I can’t wait to play Smee in Peter Pan,” he said.

Woking’s Peter Pan is being produced by the world’s biggest pantomime producer, Crossroads Pantomimes. It promises amazing special effects, stunning sets, beautiful costumes and barrel-loads of laughter on a magical trip to Neverland.

The company’s chief executive, Michael Harrison, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome the ever-so-talented Anton Du Beke to our Woking production.

“Anton’s showmanship, talent and personality have rightly earned him legions of fans, who I know are going to love seeing him team up with Peter Pan and take on the mighty Captain Hook in is this ultimate panto adventure for all the family.”

Peter Pan plays at New Victoria Theatre from Friday 8 December to Sunday 7 January. Tickets are already on sale at www.atgtickets.com.
