Sheerwater score seven in thrilling win over Corinthian-Casuals

Sheerwater produced a superb performance to win 7-1 at home to Corinthian-Casuals in the Combined Counties Premier Division South.

The Sheers were quick out of the traps and took the lead on five minutes when Elliot York finished at the far post after an excellent run down the left flank from George Sellick, who delivered the perfect cross.

Sheerwater went 2-0 up on 17 minutes after a neat flick by Theo White found York, who drove forward and was one-on-one with Casuals keeper David Wloch and unselfishly squared the ball to Sellick, who tapped into the empty net.

The Casuals pulled a goal back in the 26th minute when Carl Oblitey won the ball off Tom Gardner and produced a fine finish.

The Sheers had a golden opportunity to regain their two-goal advantage when they were awarded a penalty. York stepped up from the spot and fired his 30th-minute penalty past Wloch to make it 3-1.

Sheerwater went 4-1 up on 41 minutes when Harvey Valter hit the post and the alert York pounced to drive the loose ball into the roof of the net to complete his hat-trick.

The Sheers continued to push for goals and scored their fifth in first-half stoppage time when White dribbled across the area and unleashed a thunderous shot into the far corner to put the hosts 5-1 up at the break.

Sheerwater scored their sixth of the evening in spectacular style on 54 minutes, when Valter lobbed Wloch from inside his own half.

The hosts weren’t satisfied with six goals and nearly went 7-1 up when George Walker’s thunderous shot rattled the crossbar.

Sheerwater duly did score their seventh of the evening when Max Hurst found Zac Jervis, who produced a fine finish on 84 minutes.
