Knaphill claimed a dramatic 3-2 home win over Sheerwater in the Combined Counties Premier Division South.
The Knappers showed early attacking promise through Charlie Postance and Lucas Watkins, but Sheerwater nearly took the lead on ten minutes when Harvey Valter's low effort drew a smart save from Knaphill keeper Harvey Keogh.
Knaphill's intelligent build-up play paid dividends on 19 minutes. James Glover's header found Postance perfectly placed, and the striker converted with an effortless tap-in to give the Knappers the lead.
Postance's pace caused constant problems down the left flank, beating defenders and creating opportunities, yet his finishing proved wasteful. His 23rd-minute effort sailed wide, while a combination with Watkins on 28 minutes yielded two blocked shots.
Sheerwater grew into the match. Kareem Foster became increasingly prominent, and Keogh was forced into a crucial reaction save on 39 minutes when Valter cut inside dangerously.
Knaphill started the second half brightly. A quick free-kick from Bradley Sweeney on 49 minutes created space for Postance, although his effort drifted wide.
The Knappers doubled their advantage on 53 minutes. Aidan King's pass found Postance, who showed composure to strike cleanly into the bottom left-hand corner of the net to make it 2-0.
Sheerwater pulled a goal back four minutes later when Foster’s corner found Razza Ajibola, who rose imperiously at the far post and powerfully headed past Keogh to make it 2-1.
The goal got Sheerwater back in the game and shifted the momentum of the match.
Tensions boiled over on 86 minutes when Keogh was tripped by Valter as he attempted to clear. The incident sparked a heated confrontation, with both teams involved in pushing and shoving. The referee had to intervene to restore order.
Sheerwater pressed for an equaliser, but were caught on the counter-attack in stoppage time. George Sellick's shot was blocked by Joe Throp, who won possession and launched a rapid counter-attack. Throp’s ball to Ross Murdoch was perfectly timed, and Murdoch stayed composed and produced a clinical finish to put the Knappers 3-1 up.
There was still time for Sheerwater to pull a goal back. The Sheers took a quick corner in the 96th minute and Valter flicked the ball to Sellick, who fired his half-volley into the bottom left-hand corner of the net to make it 3-2.
