The times they are a-changin’.

Do you remember the Bob Dylan song with that title, first heard in 1964? Described as a protest song, but also traditional in many ways, even quoting a line from Mark’s Gospel – “But many who are first will be last”.

The lyrics encouraged engagement with change; the times changed well before that year and have done ever since, and the lyrics are as relevant now as then.

We only need to look back a few months to see political changes with another new Prime Minister and a newly elected West Surrey Council in waiting.

There have been several changes in Woking. At long last many diagnostic investigations can be carried out at the community hospital - even our local theatre has changed its name!

What never changes is God’s love for us all and this is mentioned at least 97 times in the Bible in one way or another (discovered through the wonders of the internet!).

A well-known verse from the letter to the Hebrews clearly states “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”.

And that is something to remember all through the times which may be a-changin’.
