The ever-popular Woking Fireworks Extravaganza returns to Woking Park on Saturday (7 November). It is considered one of the best fireworks displays in the South East, and is the biggest event in Woking’s annual calendar.

This year’s theme is party, so spectators can look forward to some of the finest party tracks to provide a fully-synchronised soundtrack to go with the fireworks display.

Park gates will open at 5.30pm. The funfair and refreshment stands will be open from then until 9.30pm. The display itself will start at the family-friendly time of 7.30pm.

The food and drinks stands are now a well-established feature of this event along with the fairground rides, including the dodgems.

These added attractions will remain open after the end of the display, meaning that spectators can stagger their departure and avoid any congestion in the car park.

This year Radio Woking’s Happy Hour presenter Roy Allaway will rock the crowd during the big build up to the display.

The event is arranged by Woking District Rotary for the entire community in Woking to enjoy, and all proceeds from the event will go to carefully selected causes and charities.

Ian Kitch is the Rotarian leading the team organising the event. He said: “We know that many families in Woking are suffering with the cost of living, so I’m delighted to say that we’ve been able to freeze prices for this year’s display.”

Club president David Colbeck said: “We have been busy again over the last year investing in many worthwhile local community projects using the profit from last year’s very successful event.

“With so many local organisations and charities feeling the squeeze right now, we know there is greater need than ever before. We are hoping for another great fundraising night.”

Timings: 5pm: Woking Park closed to public and cleared in preparation for the event. 5.30: Gates and funfair open. 7.30: Fireworks display with synchronised soundtrack starts. 7.55 (approx): Fireworks display ends. 9.30: Funfair closes. 10.00: Event closed.

There will be three entrance gates available: the main gate, alongside the Pool In The Park, at Constitution Hill and at White Rose Lane. All gates will open at 5.30pm. The park will close at 10pm.

Car parking is available in Woking Park’s own car park (access via Kingfield Road), although this is expected to fill up fast, and in the multi-storey car park on Heathside Crescent (a few minutes’ walk from the White Rose Lane gate). Parking charges apply. Spectators are asked not to try and park in nearby streets: it’s annoying for residents.

Tickets can be purchased online in advance at discounted prices at www.wokingfireworks.org and will also be available on the night by using contactless payment at the entrance gates.

Prices: Adult (16+), £11 in advance, £13 on the night; child (5-15), £5 in advance, £6 on the night; family ticket (two adults and two children), £27 in advance, £30 on the night. Children under 5 years admitted free with responsible adult.
