THREE arrests have been made in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a Byfleet newsagents.
The raid, which was thwarted by an employee, took place in Oyster Lane at around 1pm on Thursday.
A man entered the store and attempted to force open a till and remove cash before being challenged by a member of staff and leaving empty-handed.
Police have since arrested a 21-year-old man from Leatherhead, a 23-year-old man from Byfleet and a 21-year-old woman from Fleet on suspicion of attempted robbery.
The trio have been released on bail until September 4 while the investigation continues.
