Travellers have set up camp in Woking for the second time in a month with a park in Knaphill being occupied.

Woking Borough Council has released a statement as more than a dozen motorhomes and caravans pitched up on Waterers Park this afternoon.

It is believed the visitors, who were spotted in Chobham a short while before, cut through three wooden posts and removed a metal barrier to gain entrance.

“We are aware of an unauthorised encampment at Waterers Park,” said a spokesperson for WBC.

“Council officers are working with Surrey Police to manage the situation, undertake welfare assessments and work towards safely moving the group on as soon as possible.”

The incident comes four weeks after an unauthorised encampment at Woking Leisure Centre.
