MANY were in the frame, but only a few could snap up top prizes at Woking Photographic Society’s annual exhibition.

Judge Roger Reynolds FRPS, APAGB, FBPE, was charged with dividing up the winners at one of the biggest days in the society’s calendar.

Roger, from Molesey Photographic Club, is a past-President of the Royal Photographic Society and a photographer of international reputation.

A society spokesman explained: “The evening was organised by Suhail Ahmad and (the News & Mail’s own) Bob Holmes, with lots of help on the night from President David Williams. Members of the club first enjoyed refreshments and a chance to view the prints displayed in the hall at Trinity Methodist Church in Woking. Roger then commented on both the prints and the projected images before finally delivering his judgement.”

He singled out Ping Lin’s image Last Drink as worthy of special mention. Roger also gave some suggestions to members on how to give their photography more impact by simplifying the elements within an image in order to focus in on the essence of the shot.

In the Advanced Class Best Print Panel category, top spot went to Tom Sebastiano for his image entitled Fogbound. The Best Individual Print accolade was awarded to Rob Bonfield for Bath White, while the Best Projected Image Set prize, aka the Woking Review Trophy, went to Rob Bonfield for his UK Butterflies collection – it was the second year running he has scooped the prize.

There was also plain sailing for Dave Lally as his Dreaming Of The Sea landed him the Best Individual Projected Image title.

Over in the Non-Advanced Class, Best Print Panel went to Alison Clayton for Fun With Structures, RHS Garden Wisley; Best Individual Print to Ping Lin for Last Drink; Best Projected Image Set to Jonathan Nicholson for Mute Swans; and Best Individual Projected Image to Andrew Turner for The Birds.
