SURREY has overwhelmingly voted in its new Police and Crime Commissioner; the man for the job, ex-military man David Munro.
Woking residents' overwhelmingly put their ticks in the box for Conservative candidate Munro to tackle the county's 'top cop' role (polling 34% of the borough's votes), as did the majority of voters across the area - Munro posting a grand total of 100,122 votes (82,125, first preference votes and 17,997 second preference votes).
All 11 boroughs and districts across Surrey declared their results on Friday (6 May), with the total number of verified ballot papers given by officials as 239,935 from an electorate of 854,648 - turnout was declared as a lowly 28.07%; down on even the most pessimistic pundits' predictions.
New Commissioner Munro will step down from his role as Surrey County Councillor for Farnham to take up his new post.
