A disused 1980s office block could soon house as many as 60 flats.

Under proposals submitted to Spelthorne Borough Council developers are looking to turn four-storey Thameside House in Staines, which has been vacant for years, into a residential block.

The proposals would see the building refitted to hold 60 apartments, 17 of which would be studio flats, two of which would have two bedrooms and the remainder would be one bed.

Previous plans to knock the building down and replace it with a 105-flat residential tower block were withdrawn in 2020.

Instead, the fresh application seeks to create a new block of flats within the existing building as it stands.

In addition, 14 parking spaces would be provided as part of the scheme, and 20 per cent of car parking bays would have fast EV charging points.
