Grassroots sports clubs across Surrey are being invited to apply for funding support from Aldi as the supermarket launches a nationwide programme aimed at helping local organisations thrive.

The new Aldi Sports Fund brings together the supermarket’s support for community sport, offering eligible clubs financial help towards essential costs including equipment, kits, coaching, training programmes and facility hire.

The initiative is part of Aldi’s wider commitment to supporting sport at every level – from local teams run by volunteers to Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

As the Official Supermarket Partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB, Aldi provides athletes with monthly vouchers to help with their food shopping. Through the new fund, selected Gold grant recipients will also have the chance to meet a Team GB or ParalympicsGB athlete and hear about their sporting journey.

Julie Ashfield, Aldi’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We know how much local sports clubs mean to the communities they serve. They’re run by passionate volunteers and give people of all ages the chance to get active, try something new and be part of a team.

“For the past 10 years, our Scottish Sports Fund has helped hundreds of clubs, and by bringing this activity together under the Aldi Sports Fund, we’re making it easier for even more grassroots organisations to see what support is available in their area.”

The fund builds on the success of Aldi’s Scottish Sports Fund, which has supported hundreds of clubs over the past decade, and now brings funding opportunities for clubs across England, Wales and Scotland together in one place.

Eligible clubs hoping to secure support are asked to email [email protected] with no more than 200 words explaining what makes their club special, how the funding would be used and the difference it would make to their community.
