A MAN and his daughter were “randomly” attacked as they tried to leave work at KFC in Woking, leaving the father with significant facial injuries, a court has heard.

Afeez Adeyemi, 58, of The Broadway, Woking, was jailed for 12 months when he appeared at Guildford Crown Court after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm following the unprovoked assault in the early hours of January 16, 2022.

The victim was preparing to drive home on his scooter from KFC when Adeyemi approached him, visibly drunk, and began insulting him. The victim’s daughter was also leaving KFC after finishing work when Adeyemi also began insulting her and grabbed her arm.

The victim stepped between them and began pushing him away from his daughter. Adeyemi punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall to the floor.

As the victim tried to stand, Adeyemi punched him again to the face, leaving him with multiple fractures to his face, several cuts and a haemorrhage to his right eye.

Adeyemi went into a nearby flat but the daughter called police and he was arrested shortly afterwards.

At police interview, Adeyemi tried to claim he had acted in self-defence after the victim attacked him but was charged with GBH which he subsequently pleaded guilty to in court.

Det Con Chloe Houghton said: “The victim and his daughter were minding their own business when they were randomly targeted by Adeyemi.

“Not only did he insult them both repeatedly, he then assaulted the father as well, leaving him with serious injuries.

“This violent and unprovoked behaviour simply cannot be condoned. The prison sentence shows we take offences of this nature seriously and do all we can to ensure offenders are brought before the courts.”
