Some 100 newborn babies are to benefit from Woking District Rotary’s latest charity donation.

This time the organisation receiving support is Stripey Stork, a local charity which recycles and distributes essential baby and children's items to families in Surrey who are experiencing hardship.

This latest donation was for almost £3,000 and will ensure that families in Woking with new babies and who are living in hardship can receive a newborn pack as soon as it is needed.

The packs include baby clothes, bedding, a sleeping bag, a baby bath and hooded towels, a changing mat, a nappy bag with nappies, wipes, and toiletries, all presented in a Moses basket with new mattress and stand.

Millie Jaspert, from Stripey Stork, said: “Because of donations like this one, our work continues to reach children across Surrey who urgently need a safe and secure start.

“In total last year Stripey Stork supported 16,907 families, helping 30,280 children. Behind every number is a child who is more comfortable, safer and better cared for, and that is only possible because of the kindness of individuals and groups like Rotary”.

David Colbeck, president of Woking District Rotary Club, said: “Our community service team puts a lot of effort into identifying the most beneficial projects we can support locally, and we are delighted to be able to help Stripey Stork’s important work in Woking in this way”.

The Rotary Club of Woking District was founded in 1976 to provide opportunities for local people who could not meet during the working day but wanted to get involved with the many communities in Woking.

The club has around 40 members and meets fortnightly on Wednesday evenings with a varied programme that includes social events.
