Glasses were raised at Woking College this morning as dozens of students collected their A-Level results.

And it was star-studded affair, with numerous students getting top marks all round and more than 75 per cent landing a place at their preferred university.

Among those who deserves a high-five is Alex Wollis as he booked his place at Imperial College London after getting a handful of the highest marks.

Alex, who will study mechanical engineering, got an A* in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and 3D Design while getting the same grade in an EPQ.

Claire Evans was thrilled to get two A* marks and a further two As after studying Philosophy, Politics and Religious Studies in addition to an EPQ. She’s “eager” to start her next chapter having secured a place in Cambridge to study Philosophy.

It’s a wonder how Emilia Bye Harris found time to study as she balanced revision alongside coaching basketball at a national level. She’s off to Bristol University to study veterinary medicine after getting three A*s and a further A.

And she’s also got advice for future students, saying: “Be proactive and use teachers for support.”

Maya Smith was “pleasantly surprised” after getting an A*, A and B which included a standout 96/100 mark in one of her exams. She is staying local and will study English Literature at the University of Surrey, where her grades have also earned her an academic award and a job offer.

The results cap what has been a landmark year for Woking College with many students securing places at some of the country's top universities.

A spokesperson for the college said the range of subjects from medicine and veterinary science to engineering and the humanities, reflect a breadth of ambition among this year's cohort.
