A manager of shopping centre has hailed the arrival of a banking giant, calling it a “major vote of confidence” in Woking and the High Street.

Barclays has confirmed it will open a new branch at Victoria Place on Monday, October 13, as its relocating from Town Gate House on Church Street.

The move comes at a time when many banks are pulling down the shutters with Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland confirming a raft of closures last week.

Bosses at Victoria Place have hailed the incoming arrival of Barclays an “exciting addition” to Commercial Way that also highlights the “enduring value of face-to-face service”.

They also believe the move shows the importance of community-based banking and signals “real confidence in the future of high street banking.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome Barclays to Commercial Way,” said Victoria Place centre manager, John Paul Jackson.

“Their arrival strengthens our mix of retail and services, supports the evolving needs of our community, and brings a trusted name back into the heart of the town.”

The branch will offer their full range of services for personal and business customers, as well as digital banking support and financial guidance.
