Woking charity LinkAble is bringing back its popular Inclusive Games this summer, with a bigger event than ever before — including a brand-new area for children.

Now in its third year, the Inclusive Games began life as a Paralympic-inspired event in 2024, created to give local people with a learning disability and autistic people the chance to try adapted sports in a welcoming, supportive setting.

What started as a one-off celebration has grown into one of LinkAble's most popular annual events, bringing families and the wider community together for a day of accessible sport and fun.

This year's event takes place on Monday, 25 August at Woking Sportsbox, from 10.30am to 4pm. Participants can take part in five adapted sports: boccia, accessible cycling with Wheels for All, walking football with Woking Wolves, adapted rounders and table tennis.

All activities are designed so people of all ages and abilities can take part and try something new.

In an exciting development, LinkAble is thrilled to add a dedicated children's area to the event, giving younger attendees and their families their own space to enjoy the day alongside all the accessible sports.

The children's area will feature a sensory room, offering a calm space for children who need a break from the noise and activity, parachute games, and a picnic space, so families can relax and refuel together between activities.

There will also be a LinkAble stall with glitter tattoos, face painting, and a lucky dip. This new addition means the whole family can be part of the day, whatever their age or needs — making the Inclusive Games more accessible than ever.

According to disability charity Scope, 40 per cent of disabled people never take part in sport or physical activity, despite 91 per cent wanting to be more active.

By offering adapted sports in a welcoming setting, LinkAble hopes to inspire lasting engagement in physical activity for people who might otherwise face barriers to taking part.

The event is being held in partnership with Everyone Active, who said: "We are incredibly proud to host the Linkable Inclusive Games at Woking Sportsbox. The event provides an opportunity for people of all abilities to come together through sport.
