Dedicated fundraisers Juliet and Sofia recently joined forces to raise money for Woking & Sam Beare Hospice.

The girls, both 12 and students at Guildford High School, baked cupcakes using fresh eggs from Juliet’s own chickens, made homemade lemonade from freshly squeezed lemons, selected some of their most loved soft toys, prepared games and spent more than six hours enthusiastically fundraising outside Waitrose in Goldsworth Park.

They have already raised £130 with their efforts on behalf of the hospice still ongoing. They were both keen to express how grateful they are to everyone who has already donated, stopped to support them or simply shared words of encouragement.

And in a heartwarming postscript, Juliet’s beloved bear, Dani, which she donated as part of her initiative to help the hospice, has found a loving new home.

Juliet was delighted to know that Dani would bring comfort and happiness to someone else and personally delivered Dani to the winner of the “Name the Bear” competition during the fundraising event.

“I wanted to raise money for Woking & Sam Beare because it helps so many people and families in our local community,” Juliet said.

“Sofia and I loved doing the fundraising together, especially meeting everyone who stopped at our stall. It made us really happy to know that something fun we organised ourselves could actually help other people, especially finding such a lovely home for my bear Dani.

“I’m really passionate about helping others and I would like to encourage more young people to become involved in supporting their community.”

Juliet is very close to her grandmother, which has made her particularly aware of how important kindness, care and support are as people get older.

She is a great admirer of the wonderful work Woking & Sam Beare Hospice does for people and their families in the community, so when she was thinking about who she wanted to fundraise for, the hospice felt very special to her.

The hospice have certainly appreciated her efforts.

“It has been a real pleasure to support the girls, and everyone here has loved hearing about their fundraising efforts. Knowing that they put so much thought, energy and care into helping the hospice makes their event so special.
