WOKING & Sam Beare Hospices are calling for a BIG effort to make their annual Coffee Morning a smash hit.
Tuesday’s morning cuppa will hold extra significance for the charity, who hope to raise vital funds to continue their fine work.
“It’s as simple as it sounds,” explained Community Fundraiser Wendy Denty (below) when talking about the March 4 Coffee Morning. “Invite your friends and family round, and then ask them to make a donation for any coffee, tea or cake that you’ll serve for them.
“You’ll be surprised how much good these funds can do within the hospices.”
Last year more than 20 local coffee mornings raised nearly £4,000, and this year the charity hopes to do even better.
Supporters can either join an event nearby, or set up their own and then add a twist by including competitions or fancy dress.
“This is something everyone can get involved with, and make as big or small a get-together as they want,” explained Head of Community Fundraising Rosie Gibbons, who is planning a vintage theme for her gathering.
The Coffee Mornings can take place at any time during the week, but don’t forget to register with the fundraising team on 01483 881752 beforehand.
They can also give further information on how best to arrange an event, or whether any are taking place nearby.
As well as providing crucial in-patient care and day care units at both hospice sites, the charity’s community team and counseling services are vital in providing support over a much wider area part of the county, including the boroughs of Spelthorne, Runnymede and Elmbridge.
