THE new site proposed for Woking fire station is at the junction of Goldsworth Road and Church Street West.
Its current Cawsey Way home, less than 200m away, is set to be demolished as part of the £150million Bandstand Square development and, with planning consent, a state-of-the-art facility will be built on the site of Cavendish House and the Ceramic Tile Distribuors' Showroom, keeping the emergency service in the heart of the town.
Previous plans to relocate the fire station to Kestrel Way, Horsell, were thrown out. As well as shops and flats, the Bandstand Square complex will include a 60,000sq ft Marks & Spencer mega store.
