THIS year’s Woodham & New Haw Horticultural Club Show was a huge success, with an even greater number of entries, exhibitors and visitors than in 2015.

Councillor Alderton commended both the numbers and quality of the entries and, on behalf of the borough, he thanked the organising committee for their hard work and the sponsors, Bourne Valley Garden Centre and Harpers Photographic, for their contribution to the show’s success.

The RHS Banksian Medal for Best Overall exhibit was awarded to Jim Adams of Byfleet, Gordon Harberd of Staines won the Cup for Best exhibit, Daphne Hope of Addlestone won the Cup for the Best Domestic entries, Dave Watkinson came top for his prize-winning Pumpkin - 32kg - and Beda Dunkley of Addlestone won the trophy for the most points in the Floral Art.

There was also a chance for children to shine, with gardening and handicraft categories for the under 15s.
