HOCKEY: WOKING Ladies’ 1s produced one of their best performances of the season to preserve their Division Two status for another year.

In their penultimate game of the campaign, Woking knew that only a win against an already-relegated Buckingham Ladies’ 2s side would ensure their safety, without having to rely on other results going their way.

However, with only pride to play for, it was the visitors who took a shock lead after just two minutes when Emily Prothcroe deflected the ball past Helena Hubbard following a poor clearance and confusion within the home side’s defence.
