GOOD Samaritan Shyne Adcock has once again driven her crammed van across The Channel to help refugees in need.

As reported in the News & Mail previously, St John’s resident Shyne has made it her mission to help those fleeing war-torn Syria – and many other countries – to seek safer lives in Europe.

Generous Shyne and her convoy, including close friend Melanie Steele, made their initial delivery earlier in the autumn to the Sangatte camp in Calais.

The charitable group – joined by a local GP who provided free medical assistance to the displaced masses – have made two subsequent trips to a second camp in Dunkirk, the most recent of which came last week.

With winter now here, Shyne says she was grateful to be able to deliver jackets donated by Halstead Preparatory School in Woodham, which are desperately needed.

She says that although the trips do not get any easier, the Halstead jackets were a real hit with the kids: “Each trip gets more heartbreaking than the last. The Dunkirk camp has got much bigger since our last visit there six weeks ago and there are a lot more children.

A spokesman for Halstead Preparatory School said: “We were pleased to donate jackets to the Cram My Van campaign following their change to a new uniform.

“The school also donated uniform to YMCA to help children living as refugees in Jordan.”
