A TOTAL of five men taken for questioning in connection with the tragic death of a Woking man at Guildford train station were re-bailed on Monday.

The group, three of whom are teenagers, will find out in August whether they face murder charges in relation to the death of 22-year-old Ryan Harrison, who was crushed between the platform edge and a train as it attempted to pull away from the station on March 30.

Mr Harrison fell on to the tracks following what the British Transport Police described as an ‘altercation on the platform.’

Two of the five were arrested at the scene, while a third suspect turned himself in at Guildford police station.

The fourth and fifth arrests came in April when officers brought in a pair of 19-year-olds.

One of the teens taken into custody is a Sheerwater resident. All five men were initially bailed until June 10 but that period has now been extended pending a decision from the Crown Prosecution Service.

A spokesman for the BTP who, under Detective Chief Inspector Iain Miller, are handling the investigation, confirmed: “Two men from Guildford, a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old, along with a 19-year-old from Cranleigh, returned to a police station on Monday, June 10 and were re-bailed, pending a Crown Prosecution Service charging decision, until Monday, August 5.

“Also bailed until then were a further two men, a 19-year-old from Sheerwater and a 20-year-old from Guildford, who were arrested on suspicion of murder in April. This brings the total number of people arrested in connection with the death of Ryan Harrison to five.”
