The sines are promising for a Gordon’s student as the curtain falls on the A-Level class of 2026.

There was relief and celebrations at the West End school last Thursday as students collected their results.

And the hard work has clearly paid off, with more than 90 per cent achieving A* to C grades and the same percentage heading to their first-choice universities.

Owen Knight is ready to make the leap to a bigger stage as the thespian definitely knows his numbers.

The student, who has played a starring role in many school productions over the years, gained two A*s, getting 100 and 95 per cent marks in his Maths and Further Maths exams, respectively.

Fellow stand-out performers included Oxbridge-bound Seejan Gurung and Daria Hudson.

Yuvika Gurung has gained a place at dentistry school while trumpeter Ben Hallett, who has sounded the Last Post and Reveille at school parades for the past six years, is off to medical school.

The majority of students are off to Russell Group universities with Exeter and Nottingham the most popular destinations. BTEC results were also being celebrated with 62 per cent graded D* to D and 89 per cent graded D* to M.

The results also meant that four students had secured apprenticeships, Tapiwa Gandidzanwa and Charlie Gibbs into accountancy; Lucinda Dyson to an engineering firm; and Jack Seddon to a management consultancy.

Oliver Cook and Jack Nickson will be heading to the US on football scholarships and Jago Morgan has been awarded a professional rugby contract.

Gordon’s headmaster Andrew Moss is proud of the class of 2026.

He said: “I was delighted to see so many students pleased with their results and excited for their next destinations, which are testament to the hard work and commitment by students and their teachers”.
