THOUGHTFUL students at Woking College raised more than £1,500 in just 40 minutes during a Charity Extravaganza.
The school body rallied around for 2,400 seconds of furious bucket shaking, head shaving and cake selling to help fund the Typhoon Haiyan appeal.
More than 20 different events were staged last Tuesday.
Ciar Cox and Josie Adnitt, who were among five brave souls to receive a close shave, sat serenely as their luscious locks dropped to the floor. After the trim a newly hairless Josie said: “I actually really like this look. It was for a good cause and it will save me a fortune on shampoo.”
Jack Evans drew the short straw when he volunteered to be stuck by duct tape to the canteen wall for the duration of the fundraiser.
Students donated cash to add a strip of tape to keep him in position.
A festive gig performed by talented music students filled the air with sounds in exchange for pocket shrapnel.
The college’s Emilie Barrett said: “This event is really special, to see the whole college pull together for charity is just amazing. The atmosphere was electric – everyone had a great time in aid of a great cause.”
